Cairngorm Mountain Opens For Snowsports

December 17th, 2021.

It may have seemed like a quiet month at Cairngorm Mountain, but our team have been working as hard as ever to carry out annual maintenance and prepare the resort for the season ahead.

This winter we will aim to offer as much terrain and uplift as possible, without the Funicular railway this will be entirely dependent on snow cover and weather conditions. We have been producing snow with our technical snow making equipment over the last 3 weeks which will allow us to offer limited snow sports on our beginner zone in the lower car park tow area until cover permits access to the upper slopes.

During this time and throughout the season we may have to limit capacity on day passes and equipment rental. We are still in a COVID pandemic and want to ensure that we can safely accommodate visitors and our loyal season pass holders whilst maintaining the highest standard of COVID security possible. Our protocols for this season will align with guidance given by the Scottish Government and we ask for your cooperation with any restrictions that are put in place around the resort.

Car parking will be available as usual on a first come first serve basis. Capacity in the lower level of the Coire Cas will be slightly reduced. We kindly ask all hillwalkers, climbers and snowsports tourers to please make use of this area for parking when venturing outside of the ski area. When there is adequate snow cover, we will utilise the overflow parking at Coire na Ciste and operate a shuttle bus service to allow access to the slopes.

A big change to our operations this winter will be the transition to a new online booking facility. Customers will be able to purchase lift passes in advance of their visit through our Skiperformance web shop. Create an account, book your pass, collect your keycard at the resort and you will be able to register it online and reload ahead of your next visit so you can head straight onto the slopes!

In addition to lift passes, equipment rental can also be purchased via our Easy Rent online portal, with the option for collection as usual from the Day Lodge as well as at our ‘Ski Hire Bothy’ at Inverdruie. You can pick up your equipment rental from the Bothy either the evening before, or on the morning of your booking.

The Day Lodge is open daily from 9AM – 4PM. Our refreshed Mountain Shop is stocked with an excellent range of essential winter clothing and locally inspired goods. The Cairngorm Café is back serving a delicious new winter menu, we are also excited to be reinstating the Cas Bar this winter which will be serving hot drinks and light bites.

We understand how excited you will all be to get back on the slopes of Cairngorm Mountain and look forward to sharing what we hope will an excellent snow sports season with you.
