When will Cairngorm Mountain open and close this winter?

Our planned winter snowsports launch is Friday 17 December 2021 and we will be closing for snowsports on 18 April 2022.

Will Cairngorm Mountain be limiting capacity this winter?

To keep everyone safe, we are establishing capacity limits for each and every aspect of our business and product offerings in line with Scottish Government guidance.

Are all of the lifts operating this winter?

We will endeavour to open all of our surface lifts when we have sufficient snow cover. Unfortunately, the Funicular railway will not be operational this winter.

What COVID-19 restrictions are in place at Cairngorm Mountain?

We are operating in line with guidance from the Scottish Government. Face coverings are required when inside the Ticket Office, Mountain Shop, Cairngorm Café & Cas Bar and when using the toilets. For more details please read the COVID-19 Security section of our website.

Do I need to book lift passes and equipment rental in advance?

Yes, it is essential for all non-season ticket holders to book any lift passes and equipment rental in advance of their visit. This can be done through our online web-shop, just click the ‘Book’ button at the top of the page.

I'm a complete beginner, how can I book a ski or snowboard lesson?

Though we don’t operate our own in-house snowsports school, we working closely with three local operators to facilitate lessons on our slopes. To book please contact them directly, details can be found here.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible as we cannot guarantee there will be pass and rental equipment available when you plan to visit. Please see our web-shop for the most up to date information on advance booking.

Can I show up and purchase lift passes and equipment rental on the day of my visit?

We advise that you book any required lift passes and equipment rental in advance of your visit. Pending availability there may be opportunities to purchase these products on the day however, there is no guarantee of this.

Can I cancel my lift pass and equipment rental if my plans change?

Yes, you can cancel and receive a full refund up to 48 hours in advance of your booking. Cancellations within 48 hours of your booking will require document extenuating circumstances, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. How can I see if there is availability on the day I want to visit?

You can see the remaining availability of lift passes and equipment rental when viewing products on our web-shop.

Is there a waitlist option if no lift passes or equipment rental are available?

Waitlisting will not be available for advance bookings this winter. Unfortunately, once we have reached capacity we will be unable to sell any more lift passes or equipment rental.

What happens if I purchased a lift pass and Cairngorm Mountain is closed?

If snowsports is suspended during your visit you are entitled to a 50% refund if you have had less than 2 hours use of your lift pass. If you have used for pass for 2 hours or more no refund will be given.

Does Cairngorm Mountain offer insurance of any kind in the event my trip is cancelled?

Insurance is not offered by Cairngorm Mountain.

I purchased a Season Pass for this winter, do I need to make any reservations before I visit?

Anyone who has purchased a Season Pass for winter 2021-22 will have full access to the ski area without limitations per the terms and conditions under which their pass was purchased. We cannot however, guarantee there will be parking available and once at capacity, this will operate on a one in, one out basis.

Book Your Cairngorm Mountain Experience

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment, especially during busy holiday periods. If the dates are not available to book they are either sold out or not yet released that far in advance.

Tubing

You can book tubing online, please bring your digital tickets with you. 

Campervan Site

Our Campervan Site and facilities have been closed for winter but will reopen on 1st May 2022. Booking for May is now available.
