Explore Scotland’s favourite mountain destination, easily accessible from Aviemore and the main A9 between Perth and Inverness. We also have coach parking in our main car park too and welcome groups and coach tours of all ages and abilities.
We’re home to Scotland’s only Mountain Railway taking guests on an exhilarating trip to the UK’s highest restaurant at over 3,500 feet above sea level.
With great choices for food and drink, shopping, breath-taking viewpoints together with a range of outdoor activities it makes a great day out near Aviemore.
Scotland’s iconic mountain railway re-opened in January 2023 and is Scotland’s only funicular railway.
Take your group on this unique experience enjoying panoramic views from the journey up to the Top Station at over 3,500 feet above sea level. The train takes just 5 minutes each way.
Once you’ve arrived at The Top Station and departed the mountain railway you’ll find great experiences for your guests. Enjoy great food in The Ptarmigan (the UK’s highest restaurant) and enjoy local gins in the Cairngorm Gin Bar.
Afterwards take in the exceptional vistas from the viewing terrace stretching down to Loch Morlich and the Spey Valley beyond.
Explore local and unique Cairngorm Mountain gifts in The Shop at the Top before watching the 270-degree immersive exhibition projecting you on the edge of a mountain. For younger guests there are interactive sandboxes in the Cairngorm Learning Zone.
If your group would like to explore more at the Top Station we can also arrange for a guided walk to the summit of Cairn Gorm.
There’s lots more options for guests in addition to visiting the Top Station. At the Base Station next to the main car park you’ll find options for food and drink in our Cairngorm Cafe, together with The Mountain Shop serving a wide range of gifts.
Just round the corner you’ll find our Mountain Garden which is a tranquil spot to learn all about the flora and fauna of the local environment. The Mountain Garden also boasts the UK’s highest phone box, picnic tables, a viewing platform and camera obsura. Please note there is a short uphill walk required to reach the Mountain Garden from the car park.
We can also offer a selection of guided walks from the Base Station too to suit most abilities and to get out and explore the mountain environment with great photo opportunities.
Further outdoor activities include the Mountain Tubing Park (for adults too) and new mountain biking trails coming in summer 2023.
