Funicular Railway Maintenance Schedule Confirmed

Planned Cairngorm Funicular closure dates for 2026.

Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd can confirm two planned maintenance periods for the Cairngorm Funicular Railway in May and November 2026.

The Funicular will be closed briefly from Monday 18 May to Wednesday 20 May 2026 and reopen to the public on Thursday 21 May.

A second planned closure will take place from Monday 2 November to Sunday 8 November 2026. As in previous years, this will be used for essential routine maintenance and compliance checks. Specialist engineers from Garaventa, Frey AG, and Bosch Rexroth, alongside the Cairngorm Mountain engineering team, will conduct inspections and testing of the Funicular’s mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in preparation for the winter season.

Base Station facilities and activities not reliant on the railway will remain open as normal throughout both closure periods.

The Funicular will reopen on Monday 9 November 2026, ready to welcome visitors ahead of the snowsports season.
