Purpose of job

The Front of House Assistant supports the day-to-day operation of the catering facilities at Cairngorm Mountain. The role focuses on providing a consistent and friendly food and beverage service, maintaining presentation standards and supporting a positive customer experience.

Full-time and part-time positions available with no split-shifts or evening work required.  

Pay Rate: £12.98 (18+ years).

Own transport desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Front of House Assistant is accountable to the Food & Beverage Manager and Front of House Team Leader. The role supports the delivery of the full catering service, ensuring food and beverage operations run efficiently and in line with company standards.

The Front of House Assistant is responsible for:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the catering department in delivering good standards of customer service.
  • Maintain the presentation of the café and front-of-house areas to ensure they are clean, tidy and welcoming.
  • Be attentive to customer needs and provide polite, helpful service.
  • Support visual merchandising and product presentation.
  • Upsell products where appropriate.
  • Replenish stock and monitor front-of-house stock levels.
  • Keep all areas clean and tidy in line with cleaning procedures.
  • Ensure food and beverage products are displayed correctly.
  • Operate the ICR till system for cash and card payments.
  • Carry out opening and closing procedures as required.
  • Ensure point-of-sale materials are correctly presented.
  • Follow stock control procedures.
  • Understand menus, allergens and products sold.
  • Work in line with Catering Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify personal development needs in line with individual and organisational objectives.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required.
  • Comply with Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and company policies.

People Management:

  • Be polite, approachable and professional with guests, colleagues and partners.
  • Work positively as part of a team, supporting colleagues when required.
  • Attend team meetings, briefings and training sessions.
  • Take part in performance management and development processes, including PAD Reviews.
  • Show initiative and a willingness to learn.

  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and company policies.

Person Specification

Experience

This role would suit someone interested in hospitality or food and beverage service, with a customer-focused approach and the ability to work well as part of a team. The role requires flexibility to support a 7-day operation, with working patterns influenced by seasonal demand.

  • Experience of working as part of a team is essential.
  • Experience in a catering, hospitality or retail environment is desirable.
  • A valid food hygiene certificate is advantageous; in-house training will be provided.
