Scotland’s Favourite Mountain Resort
Explore Scotland’s favourite mountain destination, easily accessible from Aviemore and the main A9 between Perth and Inverness. We also have coach parking in our main car park too and welcome groups and coach tours of all ages and abilities.
We’re an all year round mountain resort with unique experiences in the Scottish Highlands including Scotland’s only mountain railway taking customers to over 1,000 metres above sea level.
With a choice of immersive mountain activities together with breathtaking views, it’s the perfect day out providing lasting memories.
The Mountain Railway
Cairngorm Mountain Railway is Scotland’s only funicular railway and a unique experience in the UK. It transports visitors up to the UK’s highest restaurant at 1,097 meters above sea level.
Once at the restaurant there’s a gin bar, a panoramic style film showcasing the mountains. There is also a gift shop and Interactive play zone for children. You can step outside and fully enjoy the view from our viewing terraces.
Our Mountain Railway is now open and operates every day (weather permitting)
On Arrival
The drive up to Cairngorm Mountain will delight your guests with stunning views down towards Loch Morlich and beyond at over 600 meters above sea level. From the Car Park it is just a short walk to the Base Station where the Funicular departs from (Including lift access if required).
If you are lucky you may even spot some of the reindeer who are part of Britain’s only free roaming reindeer herd.
Food and Drink
You’ll find a choice of places to eat and drink at Cairngorm Mountain. At car park level you’ll find the Cairngorm Café, a large café perfect for medium to large groups with a terrace overlooking the mountains and the valley below. There’s also the smaller Cas Bar perfect for intimate groups and gin tasting ( which can be arranged on request)
The Ptarmigan restaurant is located at the Top Station reached by the mountain railway which offers outstanding views, seasonal dishes and a local gin bar. Self Guided Gin Tasting can be pre booked and arranged for smaller groups.
The Mountain Garden 
Visit the tranquil garden, a vibrant environment that is a reflection of the wild mountain landscape. Take a gentle walk through the garden and browse the many information points providing insights into the habitants, flora and fauna that thrive here. You’ll then visit the Coire Cas Viewpoint and Camera Obscura. The garden is also home to the Highest Telephone Box in the UK perfect for selfies.
Guided Summit Walks
Have the chance to enjoy something truly special by walking to the summit of Cairn Gorm and enjoy breathtaking views from the 6th highest mountain in the British Isles. discoveries to longer hikes depending on ability.
Travel on the Mountain Railway to the Ptarmigan Top Station at a height of 1,097m (3,599 ft) above sea level. From here, you will be guided to the Cairn Gorm summit at a height of 1,245m (4,085 ft). You will hear stories of how the landscape was formed, learning of its vibrant history and the flora and fauna that are an integral part of its eco-system – a truly inspiring experience to see the true heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
Active Adventures
Experience unique activities at Cairngorm Mountain from Mountain Biking trails to Tubing Slides.
Our tubing slides are great fun for all ages and the Bike Trails provide a great experience for beginners through to advanced riders.
