Applications are being invited for a new chair and board members to help shape the future of one of Scotland’s leading mountain resorts.
Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd (CMSL) operates Cairngorm Mountain, which offers year-round outdoor experiences, from skiing and snowboarding to environmental ranger services, mountain karting, adventure play, tubing slides, and family biking.
A key attraction is Scotland’s only funicular railway, which following an extended period of repair and remediation, now provides a regular service on the mountain, offering stunning views, dining, shopping and exhibition in the Ptarmigan building and access to the upper slopes for snowsports and guided walks.
With Cairngorm Estate in public ownership through Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the resort is a nationally significant environmental and tourism destination, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
The board plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction of the operating company, ensuring strong governance, and overseeing operational performance.
CMSL is looking to supplement its board with a new chair and board members who will bring a range of skills, knowledge and experience to help shape the company’s future direction.
The current chair, Peter Mearns, is stepping down after serving on the board for seven years. New board members will be appointed to three-year terms that are due to start in January 2026.
Ideal candidates will have a strong affinity with the Cairngorms and a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing CMSL.
Appointees must demonstrate insight into the economic, cultural and fiscal factors influencing the company and the wider resort and tourism sectors.
Details are on the HIE website and the closing date for applications is Sunday 26 October.
