Mountain Rideshare is a new car-sharing platform designed for mountain and outdoor communities. It connects drivers with spare seats to people travelling to the same destination, making it easier, cheaper, and more sustainable to reach the slopes.

For visitors, Mountain Rideshare offers:

• A more affordable way to travel.

• Less stress finding parking.

• Better access for people without their own vehicles.

• A more social journey to the mountain.

Year-round destinations like Cairngorm Mountain can become very busy on weekends and during holiday periods. In winter especially, mountain car parks can be full within the first few hours.

Whilst there are great public transport links to Aviemore and a regular bus service up to the resort, sharing journeys helps reduce traffic on the access road, eases pressure on car parks, and allows more people to enjoy the mountain on peak days.

Something that Mike Gifford, Chief Executive of Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Limited, thinks is of great benefit to snowsports and adventure enthusiast’s across the country:

“Shared travel supports environmental goals, reduces congestion, and improves access to the mountains during busy periods.

Vehicle sharing also helps cut carbon emissions associated with travel to and from the resort, supporting more responsible and sustainable mountain access.”

Cairngorm Mountain are looking forward to supporting Mountain Rideshare, which is already working with other Scottish mountain resorts, helping normalise shared travel as part of the mountain experience.
