We are also happy to hear from students/individuals who are seeking voluntary work experience placements. (minimum placement period is 1 week). Student placements are normally available in the following areas: marketing, customer services and the Ranger department. Please email your CV and any project requirements you are required to fulfill as part of your project placement indicating the dates you are available for work experience.

Location
The Cairngorms, in the
Central Highlands of Scotland, form the largest area of high ground in Britain. The range is home to five of Britain’s six highest peaks. The alpine-arctic climate that dominates this mountain range has created a unique environment which is internationally valued for its landscape quality, rare habitats, scientific interest and not least its recreational opportunities.Cairngorm (4084 ft), one of those peaks, stands on the NW edge of the range to which it gives its name. The range is Britain’s largest National Nature Reserve and is part of Scotland's second National Park.

Season
The summer visitor season runs from May to October. The winter operating season typically runs from Christmas until the end of April, snow conditions permitting.

Staff

Looking after up to 55,000 skier and snowboarder visits each winter, and over 140,000 non-skier visitors throughout the year, CML employs 65 permanent staff and additional team members at the height of the summer and winter seasons.

Vital Statistics

We operate a Funicular Railway, 4 T-bars, 2 Platter lifts, 4 Poma lifts, 2 retail outlets and 2 cafe/restaurant outlets

TYPES OF
JOB

It is important to note that for the winter season 2009/10 we will be recruiting for CairnGorm Team rather than for individual departments. If, however, you have a preference, please mention this when applying.

Catering

Year-round positions available for Catering & Kitchen Assistants both full and part-time. The emphasis is on flexibility and fun!  Bar and food service positions. Some customer service experience required.

Customer Services

Year-round, this team makes sure our customers and staff are kept up to date with all the latest information regarding conditions on the mountain. They also meet and greet our customers, sell tickets, provide an information service and offer a carriage attendant service on our Funicular Railway. Good people skills combined with some IT experience would be helpful.

Equipment Hire
In winter we operate a busy hire department and repair work
shop. Experienced hire technicians are always welcome. If you have workshop experience, so much the better.

Retail
Year-round, our retail team offer a wide range of goods. This is a permanent team although there may, on occasion, be seasonal opportunities.

Lifts and Tows
During our snowsports season we need folk who don't mind being out in all weathers to man our lifts and tows. Fit and customer focussed? This might be the type of work for you.

Accommodation
CML does not offer any staff accommodation. People generally find somewhere to stay in Aviemore or one of the surrounding villages. We can supply you with a list of useful information if you e-mail us.  We also have an arrangement with the Aviemore Highland Resort to utilise rooms in their staff accommodation.  If this might be of interest to you, just ask.

Uniform
All staff are supplied with uniform to suit the requirements of their particular job

Employee benefits
All winter seasonal employees normally receive a staff pass which can be used to access uplift facilities at CairnGorm and at other ski areas in
Scotland

Discounts are offered in our shops and restaurants as well as in many outlets in Aviemore.

You can enjoy free soup and bread roll at lunchtime.

There are opportunities to benefit from visits to other visitor attractions and you can use the facilities at our local swimming pool/gym (limited)
